Kingspan Insulated Panels has become the first manufacturer in the metal roof and wall cladding industry to achieve Environmental Profile Certification from the Building Research Establishment (BRE). Kingspan is the first manufacturer in their field to undergo the stringent environmental audit process for some of their key products manufactured at Holywell with the core.  The products achieved an excellent Green Guide ‘A’ rating.

BRE utilises an Ecopoints system, which looks at cradle to grave data of the products under scrutiny, covering thirteen different environmental impacts.  A high score equates to a greater environmental impact, and the product or material is graded accordingly on a scale of A-C.  The system is particularly valuable for both its breadth and its length, giving an accurate picture of the effects of a product over its whole life cycle, from manufacture, through performance in application, right to the end of life implications.

The resulting environmental profile also appears in both the Green Guide to Specification and in ENVEST2 – the environmental impact estimation tool which allows designers to assess the life cycle environmental impact of building materials at the design stage.

One of Kingspan’s key products, the KS1000 RW trapezoidal roof insulated panel system manufactured at Holywell with an core achieves an impressively low 0.82 Ecopoints.
