The Kingspan Insulated Panels site in Holywell is the largest composite panel manufacturing facility in the world, with an annual production capacity of 10 million m². Thirteen years ago just 30 local people were employed on site: that figure is now over 500, and the company is proud to be a successful UK-based manufacturer even in the current economic climate.

 

The advanced new production line being opened today has created 35 new jobs and will manufacture the highly popular Architectural Wall Panel range at a rate of up to 50,000 linear metres per week. It will allow Kingspan to maintain its position as a market-leading business, preparing it for future growth and also helping to strengthen its place as a major local employer.

 

Ahead of the opening, David Hanson MP for Delyn commented: “In these difficult financial times, it makes me very proud to see a local company leading the way. I’m delighted that the line has secured jobs for local people.”

This year Kingspan won a RoSpa gold award for its high standards of protecting the health and well-being of its employees, and is also heavily involved with community matters beyond the factory gates. It hosted last year’s DeeDay project along with David Bellamy, which involved 600 people in a successful clean-up of the local coastline. The company is again heavily involved in this year’s event. It has also donated £10,000 for the regeneration of Greenfield Dock as part of the All-Wales Coastal Path scheme.

 

A long-term commitment to state of the art technology means that a range of innovative new products are launched on a regular basis, with the recent addition of the Kingspan EnergiPanel system. The panel generates renewable energy in the form of solar air heating and has been installed on the new warehouse as part of Kingspan’s aim to ultimately power all of its manufacturing sites from renewable energy sources. This ethos is embodied by the Kingspan energi centre at Holywell, which uses rainwater harvesting, a wind turbine and photovoltaic cells to produce clean electricity to help power the building and heat the boiler.
