Kingspan Insulated Panels has presented its first full sustainability report for the year 2006. They are proud to declare that they have achieved a level C report, in accordance with the standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Framework.
The report covers the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainability at each of their three manufacturing sites, and Kingspan intends to implement an annual reporting cycle to demonstrate improved performance in each of seven target areas.
Louis Eperjesi, Divisional Managing Director of the company states, “Environmental responsibility has for a long time been an important issue in the product-manufacturing sector, and at Kingspan Insulated Panels we have been working hard towards achieving continual improvement in our management of these impacts.This report serves to highlight some of our successes, and also where we intend to improve.”
Kingspan are leading the way in environmental performance, as three of its plants already have ISO 14001 certification, and have achieved a best BRE Green Guide to Specification ‘A’ rating for several of their key products. Kingspan are also driving the agenda to create products which ensure a more environmentally responsible economy, in an open and accountable way, with a rolling programme of independent study of the cradle-to-grave impact of all remaining products.
In 2006, Kingspan Insulated Panels was the first UK manufacturer to sign up to membership of dcarbon8. dcarbon8 is a carbon solutions company, seeking to provide products and services which are either carbon neutral or carbon positive. Over the next year, Kingspan will continue its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects, aiming both for a carbon reduction component and social benefits to local communities.
