Kingspan Optimo For Optimal Design Impact
A high-specification new office building in Lancashire has benefited from the visual impact of a wall cladding system from Kingspan Insulated Panels. Constructed for Beva Investments, Hafley Court provides 20,000 sq. ft of office space over four floors.

CJ Partnership, the architects of the £1.5 million project, found the ultra-flat profile of Kingspan Optimo met all of their design demands. CJ’s Paul Clark said: “We were looking for a bold engineered design to compliment neighbouring projects, which would also provide an attractive and distinctive contemporary design. Optimo panels provided the ideal solution both technically and visually”.

Robert Connal of cladding contractor Valent, adds: “Everybody involved was happy with the finished product. In fact, we have recently finished a similar building with the same wall cladding system.”

A smooth and consistent appearance to the building envelope was an important consideration. With Kingspan’s help, features such as factory pre-formed corners were added to maintain the visual impact of the building. Also, Kingspan Optimo allows simple integration with doors and windows and in this case meant a window system that fitted smoothly with the cladding was easily installed.

The system offers architects and specifiers a practical and cost-effective way to maximise visual impact without compromising thermal performance. It has hidden joint detailing which conceals fasteners from view, and a range of project specific accessories to ensure it is capable of fulfilling a range of design demands.

Importantly, FIREsafe LPCB approval gives assured fire performance and furthermore, with an ECOsafe core rated “A” by the BRE Green Guide to Specification, Kingspan Optimo has excellent green credentials. BRE ecoprofiling examines the cradle to grave performance of products, so specifiers can be satisfied that the demanding BRE criteria have been met up to and including end of life.

With an air leakage rate of 5m³/hr/m² or better, and a U-value as low as 0.23 W/m²K, the product can help to ensure the Approved Document Part L stipulations for both domestic and non-domestic energy efficiency can easily be met.
