A new £2 million car dealership in Staffordshire has benefited from Kingspan Insulated Panels’ expert envirocare technical services department and two of the company’s high performance panel systems.

There was a real danger that without the specialist advice and assessment offered by the envirocare team, the project for Renault Cannock may not have achieved compliance with Building Regulations Approved Document L2 (ADL2). Because of the team’s help and government-approved IES “Virtual Environment” software, the main contractors were able to meet the emission rate targets set by ADL2. In line with the Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM), “Virtual Environment” calculated whole building energy and carbon dioxide modelling for the project.

The new complex features a car showroom, service workshop and parts department. Opened by former England footballer Steve Bull, it has created 20 jobs for the local area. Ivan Bullock of New Century Structures said, “We are totally satisfied with Kingspan. The KS1000 MR cladding system and the KS1000 RW roofing system both had the high performance qualities to ensure the building envelope complied with Building Regulations. Their PIR insulation cores and factory formed jointing ensure thermal performance well within ADL2 demands.

Being a customer-oriented commercial site, aesthetics were also an important consideration at Cannock. By offering visual impact as well as a choice of finishes, the KS1000 MR panel system was able to meet aesthetic design demands.

Both KS1000 MR and KS1000 RW are available in LPCB certified and FM Global insurer-approved FIREsafe forms, ensuring high levels of fire safety. They are also covered by the Kingspan Total Panel Guarantee, which offers a guaranteed 25 years of thermal and structural performance and 30 years of panel durability and coating performance.

The Kingspan envirocare technical service is available to all Kingspan customers, from architects through to cladding sub-contractors. The department provides guidance and support on a comprehensive range of environmental and building regulation issues.
