ASA Rejects Claims From Quedron Against Kingspan Insulated Panels

ASA Rejects Claims From Quedron Against Kingspan Insulated Panels
A ruling from the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has clearly supported claims from Kingspan Insulated Panels about the disposal of their products at end of life. The challenge to Kingspan’s Delivering Sustainable Construction brochure which came from roofing company Quedron Ltd (a sister company to Euroclad), was quashed on all four counts.

The ASA were satisfied that Kingspan ECOsafe insulated panels have a commercial value for disposal at the end of life subject to transport costs, that the cost of processing panels through shredder plants is approximately cost neutral with the transport costs from the site being covered by the scrap value of steel and that Kingspan has substantiated that an income per m2 of £0.10p was generated in the case study referred to in the brochure.

“We concluded Kingspan had substantiated the claim that the processing of panels through shredder plants was approximately cost neutral.” (ASA final judgement) http://www.asa.org.uk/asa/

Commenting on the ruling Chris Witte, Head of Marketing said “The ruling vindicates our approach that always seeks to substantiate what we say. It is time the mineral fibre industry stopped trying to undermine confidence in Kingspan products, and get on with the job of competing fairly.”
