Kingspan Puts Safety First By Acquiring Saferidge

Kingspan aims to lead the way in the provision of complete building envelope solutions for the construction industry. In line with this objective, and with particular regard for the changes in working at height legislation, the company is delighted to announce the acquisition of the Saferidge Ltd Fall Protection Systems business.

Kingspan Saferidge will produce two systems, Saferidge and Safetraxx that provide effective and unobtrusive fall arrest solutions for new build, refurbishment and retrofit roofs. These will help to ensure the risks associated with working at height are minimised and legislation such as the Working at Height and Construction (Design and Management) regulations is complied with.

The Saferidge system combines a weatherproof ridge capping with a secure mobile fall-arrest attachment eye, which is certified to BS EN 975 (Protection against falls from a height.  Anchor devices.  Requirements and testing). This means that an integral safety system is installed with the roof itself, avoiding the secondary work needed to fix some other systems. Saferidge is suitable for use on most types of roof profiles including low pitch metal roofs and standing seam roofs.  It can be adapted to work with most roofing materials and is available in a range of colours including Kingspan XL Forté™.

Safetraxx is composed of an aluminium section utilising a precision sliding joint that provides off-ridge fall protection requirements. The system complies with BS EN 795 and is easy to install as it is fixed from the top down, thereby eliminating the need for internal scaffolding. Furthermore, fixings do not penetrate the insulation layer of the building envelope, so there are no thermal bridging problems
