The new Kingspan energi  centre at Holywell embodies all of these objectives: it provides a world class showcase for innovation; an industry leading training facility and above all, the building itself incorporates the full scope of products from the many divisions within the Group, pushing the boundaries of sustainable construction.

Energy efficiency and environmental sustainability are at the forefront of our thinking, and hence the design itself. Accordingly, careful consideration has been given to each detail, right from the thermal effectiveness building envelope, through to the integration of both wind and solar renewable energy sources and rainwater recycling.

The building is just the beginning however, even more important is what takes place inside, as the Kingspan approach is about much more than leading products. The new energi centre will provide an industry wide facility for training, seminars and demonstrations of technique and innovation.

Obtaining water and energy from renewable sources

At Holywell Kingspan have invested in the latest technology enhance the environmental sustainability of the centre.

Wind Power

A 5Kw wind turbine generates energy that inputs directly into the National Grid.

Solar Photo-Voltaic Panels

Ten roof mounted 210w PV panels generate energy and also inputs directly into the National Grid.

Solar Heating

Two roof mounted Solar Heating panels, pre heat water entering a gas fired hot water generator. This method balances the need for hot water to be readily available whilst maximising the benefits of solar heating.

Rainwater Recovery

A 10,000 litre underground tank collects rainwater from the Kingspan energi centre’s roof drainage system. The water can then be distributed for use in flushing toilets and urinals.
